We’ll tour the deCordova’s former home—today’s museum building—outside and inside to discover unusual architectural features, changes over the years, and more than a few fun and interesting stories. And, we’ll discuss together some of the sculptures that are important to deCordova’s history. Mezzo-Soprano Vanessa Schukis portrays culinary icon Julia Child in composer Lee Hoiby’s Bon Appétit! Ms. Schukis will keep the audience laughing with her fast-paced performance of Julia Child in this 25 minute one-act operetta, accompanied by pianist Scott Nicholas. The witty, warm-hearted opera is based on two episodes from Julia Child’s popular cooking show in which she prepares a chocolate cake and premiered in 1989 with actress Jean Stapleton originating the role of Julia Child. The evening will begin with a performance by jazz guitarist Frank DiBussolo, followed by Bon Appétit! and capped off with chocolate cupcakes and beverages. The concert takes place in The Dewey Family Hall at deCordova.
