Lincoln and others are working on waste reduction, but there’s a ways to go <https://lincolnsquirrel.com/2023/06/lincoln-and-others-are-working-on-waste-reduction-but-theres-a-ways-to-go/> (June 21, 2023) *Opening paragraphs:* Lincoln is doing its part by recycling and composting diligently, but there’s always room for improvement to meet the state’s ambitious goals for reducing solid waste disposal — trash, recyclables, and everything in between. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan <https://www.mass.gov/doc/2030-solid-waste-master-plan-working-together-toward-zero-waste/download> released in 2021 calls for reducing disposal statewide by 30% percent (from 5.7 million tons in 2018 to 4 million tons in 2030) by 2030 and sets a long-term goal of achieving a 90 percent reduction in disposal to 570,000 tons by 2050.
