Good question Sara. I don’t know the answer. I’m opting for the replenishing the soil regularly with homemade compost. I do a rough clearing out of the worms but know I’m still introducing more. Waiting patiently for more information from authorities. The Facebook page is Invasive Jumping Worms.

Yes. They are bad. They don’t eat the plants, they eat all the organic parts of the soil leaving behind something that looks like coffee grounds and is essentially sterile. A problem indeed. UMass Agricultural Extension has a link to more information. There is also a Facebook page devoted to them.
