That reminds me of when I lived in Adelaide, Australia and had apple trees.
Every year I’d be just about to pick them as they neared ripeness, and every
year a flock of rainbow lorikeets would beat me to it, usually the morning of
or the day before my own picking plans, and devour ALL of the perfectly ripe
apples. They were loud and messy eaters, though and made a big ruckus. No
stealth needed I guess. Reminded me of an highly animated bar scene!
Loved learning about the fishers and how they operate, Louise!

Years ago I was house sitting for my folks and the corn was looking great! I
was going to pick it the next day.  But the next morning every ear had been
stolen by the pesky raccoons!

Hi Katherine,

The same happened to our very tall pear trees. All unroped fruit has gone
overnight.
We attribute this to fishers; they come in and carry the fruits away to a safe
place.
We surprised them one night a few years back, taking away all the plums from
our tree.

At this time of the year, they work as a family and are efficient.
