Subject: CAUTION DURING FEMA EMERGENCY TEST
Reply-To: [email protected]

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a National Test of its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System on

Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from approximately

2:20 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Survivors of domestic abuse are advised to turn off any mobile device they want to keep hidden during the test.

This is because many survivors keep second phones as a lifeline, and the test will cause people's phones and tablets to produce a loud ALERT tone, which could give away the location of secret devices.

It is important to note that the alarm will NOT SOUND if the phone is switched off or put on airplane mode. It is suggested that all survivors take the necessary precautions to protect themselves during this test.
