The Select Board and the Housing Choice Act Working Group (HCAWG) have offered the opportunity to submit additional options to comply with the HCA. Lincoln Residents for Housing Alternatives, a group of engaged residents, has considered a range of opinions and submitted a new proposal. This newly designed option E fully meets the HCA guidelines, supports development, encourages affordable housing, and promotes the revitalization of the Mall through community input and Town meetings. We believe our proposal meets the specific criteria set forth in Select Glass’s email of November 14. 1) Rezone near public transportation to promote decarbonization and climate adaptation; 2) Codify, where appropriate, existing multi-family housing; 3) Lay the groundwork for creating new housing to meet people’s needs; 4) Be proactive, shape our future, and stay eligible for state funding.
