House of Fine Furnishings : Second Generation…or maybe Third

I collected things over the years for my boys…stored them in my basement and
barn.
When the first “launched” and was needing to furnish a place in DC, he and his
now-wife shopped my basement.
They loaded these Fine Furnishings into my 3rd hand pick-up and off they went.
The transmission dropped on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Given NY laws, they had to find a special tow truck to take it off the bridge,
and back onto the highway.
AAA took it from there to the closest shop in a seedy part of town.
They were given a quote and called me.
I called Joey, who had always taken care of the truck, and told him what
happened and the quote.
He said it was a fair price, so the repair guy got the go head and promised the
truck would be done in 24 hours.
They had to leave the truck, and all its treasures and make their way into the
city to try to see it as an opportunity to spend a night in NYC-a bonus!
Well, not so much.
The next day was a nail biter-getting a cab to take them back to the truck
before the shop closed…and that was key because they needed to get to DC ASAP
to housesit a sick cat.
Oy.
The truck was finished and no additional charges and off they went to make it
to the sick cat the next AM.

The Lincoln house of Fine Furnishings furnished the first apartment, and the
second, and the third…and were then transported to Denver, to the first house,
and then the second.
Much of them are there today.
So, when in Denver, we raise a toast to the gems from the Lincoln House of Fine
Furnishings and the taste of Lincoln’s citizenry.

Keep your eyes open, because you might find a gem as we did!
