This goes for cyclists, too.

This thread offers the perfect opportunity to remind folks about approaching
horses on the road. Many people do not consider the fact that some horses may
be frightened by rapidly moving cars or trucks. This has even been true of
school buses in town. Please slow down when approaching a horse or even stop if
it appears frightened and be sure to observe the four foot rule. Thanks.
Sherry Haydock

Every person operating a motor vehicle shall bring the vehicle and the motor
propelling it immediately to a stop when approaching a cow, horse or other
draft animal being led, ridden or driven, if such animal appears to be
frightened and if the person in charge thereof shall signal so to do; and, if
traveling in the opposite direction to that in which such animal is proceeding,
said vehicle shall remain stationary so long as may be reasonable to allow such
animal to pass;

Just a tiny input of a great experience.
A family member about 14 years ago got a ticket for not stopping at the 5 stop
sign intersection at the Library at 12.30 am, when no one was on the road and
the police car was invisible to him. Since that incident I am stoping at all
stop signs at all times, because it’s simply the right thing to do.
I had a great driving instructor who taught to leave home on time, with a
reserve to get to the destination, to drive defensively and to respect road
signs and other drivers. It’s simple and effective.😊

The signs on roads are there for a reason. And these days people drive fast,
easy cars and on top of that are seemingly very self-centered, taking driving
as a right, but- it’s a privilege.

I have known too many friends, a family member and acquaintances who have lost
their lives by someone driving irresponsibly that to be self-righteous just
does not seem right.

Wishing pleasant and safe driving to all!

P.S.- And just wait those 2 seconds when a traffic light changes from red to
green, because there tend to be a driver or two who just want to make through
that yellow light turning into red at the intersection, specially, on Rt.2!

I think given our roads the police do an excellent job. I recall in years past
they were much more vigilant and I am not against that. We have small winding
roads used for recreational use. I often walk at night and the amount of cars
speeding and blowing the stop signs at the library is surprising to me. I feel
we are fortunate to have a friendly, helpful and respectful police department.

Subject: [LincolnTalk] Speed limit and police presence on Trapelo Road

Good evening Lincoln Talk,

I was hoping to engage the community regarding the speed limit and police
presence on Trapelo Road. We were taking the family today to dinner, and like
many days, there was a police presence taking speed limits by Lexington Road
coming downhill where the speed is difficult to control. We are conscious of
this these days, but my overarching feeling is that they are typically pulling
over Lincoln residents where the risk of accident or untoward event is quite
limited.

Appreciate any input from the community.

Happy holidays to all.
