Hi LT,
I would like to give a big shout out to Lincoln resident, John (partnered
with Rachel Marie Schachter I believe) and Lincoln transfer station
attendant, Dan, for helping me at the transfer station, yesterday,
Wednesday, July 24. When I opened the trunk of my SUV to get the recycling
items, the paper bag that held my glass bottles and jars fell out onto the
pavement, and several smashed and broke. One of the glass shards bounced
up and cut my shin and created a flap of skin about the size of a silver
dollar.

There was a lot of blood and broken glass. John went to his car and
brought me a roll of paper towels for the bleeding. He went in search of
an attendant and found Dan. Dan called 911 and asked for an ambulance to
come to the transfer station, and he brought me a chair so that I could
keep my leg elevated. John (and others, I believe) cleaned up all of the
broken glass and waited with me until the ambulance came. I was pretty
distraught and in need of help. John and Dan were so kind, calm,
clear-headed and helpful. Thank you, John and Dan.

The Lincoln fire department came in their ambulance and took me to Emerson
Hospital where I eventually got 6 stitches in my shin.

At this current moment in our country when there is so much anger and
vitriol between different groups, I am very grateful for the kindness of
these strangers yesterday. I am vowing to show kindness to others, now, as
much as I can each day. Pass it on!

Thank you,
Cindy Bencal
