A couple of quick points to clarify: The video clip was intended to be Stephen Colbert only not the editorial comment by the Sky News anchor. Wild estimates of increased traffic at Hanscom Have been made for over 40 years, none of which have come true. The 6000 flights cited by CBS seems to be a similar exaggeration. My point was media credibility. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqvkCF64mDY
Decisions by companies and individuals to purchase private jets are not based on whether or not they can keep them in a hanger. Hanscom is a destination airport. That is, there are no connecting flights, which will and should continue to limit its growth. It was my position when I was the Lincoln representative and chairman of the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission and our select board wanted to close Hanscom that our best policy is to be cooperative with Massport whenever we can and gain concessions like the overnight surcharge, which we accomplished. Compromise is not a bad word. Tom -- The LincolnTalk mailing list. To post, send mail to [email protected]. Browse the archives at https://pairlist9.pair.net/mailman/private/lincoln/.
