Join us for a unique art and culinary workshop presented by Powisset Farm and
deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park.
At this inspiring, one-of-a-kind sensory experience, sight, sound, touch,
smell, and taste will converge in the worlds of nature, food, and painting.
We’ll start by taking in the views of 109-acre historic Powisset Farm to
recognize the bounty the farm produces each season. Next, we’ll move to the
teaching kitchen, where Powisset’s Chef Thi will lead a cooking class using
farm-fresh vegetables to create a menu filled with vibrancy, color and
dimension. At the end of the class, you will enjoy the food you created at a
communal table, drawing inspiration from the scents, feel and tastes you’ll
experience.
Next, we will take our inspiration and recollections outside, where deCordova’s
popular painting instructor, Cha, will be waiting with easels, canvases, and
paints. With the farm as your studio, Cha will guide you in a painting class
inspired by the culinary experience you just enjoyed. You’ll be encouraged to
use the food’s colors, tastes, textures, and smells to spark your imagination
as you paint. Perhaps the food sparked a memory, created a mood, combined
colors or offered a new shape to study. Whatever your inspiration, Cha will be
present to offer guidance, suggestions and as much or as little instruction as
you desire.
At the end of the workshop you’ll share a glass of wine or craft beer and
discuss the art each person created.
Open to all skill levels from novices to experts, this unique fusion of
farm-fresh cuisine and artistic imagination – all within an idyllic pastoral
setting – is a workshop not to be missed!
