Agreed. I am a two time Olympian in the sport of rowing, and I row out of Community Rowing (CRI) and wouldn’t choose any other boathouse. The sport has a history of elitism, and the mission of CRI is to bring rowing to everyone. They have junior programs, adult learn to row programs, elite teams and serve literally all ages and all economic backgrounds as well as a wide range of Paralympic athletes. It is also affordable. Basic membership is 170 a year, and you pay by program. If there is difficulty paying, there are scholarships. They also have indoor programs on ergometers and in the weight room as well as yoga. Their website is communityrowing.org. If you have never experienced this sport, give it a try! It can be transformational.  Anne Warner

Hi,

My daughter just completed her first season of rowing & wants to learn to be a coxswain. She’s currently a ninth grader.  It’s a long shot, but does anyone know of good summer opportunities in New England (Mass or points north) that teach high schoolers the ins & outs of coxing/rowing?  But especially coxing?

Thank you!
