*Experience the depth of love in song... *

Step into the glow of candlelight and immerse yourself in the raw,
emotional power of Italian Baroque music at *The Inevitability of Love*.
This intimate concert on *February 21st, 2025*, at the *First Parish in
Lincoln*, features stunning works for two voices by Alessandro Scarlatti
and Claudio Monteverdi—two masters of love and longing in music.

*A Showcase of Scarlatti’s Genius*
Prepare to be enchanted by three of Scarlatti’s most moving cantatas:

   - *"Bella Quanto Crudel"* – A lament of unrequited love,
   heartrendingly beautiful.
   - *"Amor vuol fermini"* – An exploration of the paradoxes of love,
bittersweet and chock full of drama!
   - *"Clori e Lisa"* – A tale of friendship tested by love, brought to
life by two intertwining voices and emotional intensity.

Through his exquisite vocal writing, Scarlatti masterfully conveys the
highs and lows of human emotion, exploring love as both a joy and a torment.

*Monteverdi: The Madrigal’s Voice*
The program also includes two stunning duets by Claudio Monteverdi:

   - *"O come sei gentile"* – A celebration of beauty and grace, filled
with intricate, interweaving lines and interlocking harmonies.
   - *"Tornate, o cari baci"* – A poignant yet lively cry of longing and
   despair. (See video below!)

Monteverdi’s groundbreaking innovations in the madrigal form bring poetry
to life with word painting and dramatic contrasts -
capturing love's complexities.

*Your Invitation to an Extraordinary Evening*
