LincolnTalk is primarily a bulletin board that is very town centric. Missing pets, dressers to re-home, potholes to avoid, town events to attend, roofers to refer... that sort of thing. Secondarily, it is a place to post opinions - about many things, but hopefully tied to Lincoln; politics included. (On a limited basis! If you post an opinion, and someone responds, and you want to respond - take it off line... you've each had your say "in public", but your debate does not belong on LincolnTalk.) You may like to share, "Great political cartoon on page 3 of the New York Times today. I think it perfectly sums up what I've been thinking about this issue." You could even direct people to a social media space where the cartoon can be viewed this side of a pay wall. A person might respond, "I didn't like it for these reasons..." After that, any further discussion should be done offline. A litmus test for this is, if your post could start with a salutation to a particular person, it's probably time to find another forum. People who post cartoons, memes or re-posts from social media sites (that are not their own words) will be placed on moderation: which means future posts will go into a "holding pen" until a moderator has a chance to check them for policy compliance before being sent through to the members.
