Hi,
On gbh radio 89/7 fm today, I happened to catch mention of the Waltham Repair
Cafe at the Charles River Museum of Industry.

I would suggest you look at their website https://www.walthamrc.org for what
seems to be a great opportunity.
Their events are free (museum is free then also) and the repairs are mostly
free! (they might need to purchase parts but it looks like the service is free)
They have a long list of what they will work on, copied and pasted below:

Broken lamps & fixtures

Cracked ceramics, pottery, plastics

Dull knives needing sharpening

Broken small appliances

Broken electronic items

Cell phones (not hardware problems)

Computers and laptops

Other household items

Heirlooms or cherished items

Bicycles needing repair or tuneup

Small furniture needing repair

Jewelry needing basic repairs

Textile goods - sews, rips, cuts, etc

Guitars & basses - basic repair, tuning

Wooden items that have come apart

A/V equipment, speakers, turntables

Broken tools or shop items

Or anything else you can carry in!

Thanks,

 Hi,

Vanderhoof in Concord rewires lamps. I don’t know about appliances. There’s a
group of retired guys somewhere (Newton?) who love to fix toasters, etc., but I
don’t have the reference.

Thanks.

Don
