Hi, Nancy. Would the scraps be useful for quilters? There are various guilds around the state that might be interested. Also, maybe children's crafts programs in schools? Or what about people who make doll clothes for their children or grandchildren? I have heard that some COA's offer sewing classes (I don't think ours does) and are interested in fabric donations.

This is a good and green step! The MA DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) developed a program that now recycles or reuses 95% of textiles that were previously thrown out! Textiles include clothing, footwear, bedding, curtains, fabric, pocketbooks, hats, belts, stuffed animals, and more. They must be clean, but they can be worn, torn, or stained. Put unwanted textiles in the marked box at the Transfer Station or at the Hartwell School on Ballfield Road. Or, you can still use the many other services that have taken unwanted textiles in the past. For a complete list of textiles that are accepted, see baystatetextiles.com<http://baystatetextiles.com>. The discarded textiles from Lincoln will be transported for sorting to Bay State Textiles in Kingston, MA, a textile recycler, and will be either reused or recycled into new products such as wiping cloths and insulation. This approach to handling unwanted textiles very effectively decreases our waste stream!
