Ave., Lexington Revel with Mystic Chorale this spring in celebration of 35 years of music-making! Welcoming all who love to sing since 1989, Mystic wows audiences with music from a wide range of musical eras, genres, cultures, and traditions in concerts that have featured passionate singers and guest artists, top notch bands, and enthusiastic audiences. The repertoire will include old favorites, including A Promise I Will Keep, Before My Ashes Flow to the Sea, Senzeni Na/We Shall Overcome, Swing Low, The Storm Is Passing Over, Swimming to the Other Side, Miriam’s Song and One Voice. Also included will be Celebration – an anthem for this season’s salute to Mystic’s history! This season 180 Mystic singers will revisit many of the gems sung over the decades. Led by music director Mike Pfitzer, the program will feature Mystic Chorale Founder, Nick Page (leading a sing-along and singing a solo), as well as Jonathan Singleton, Donnell Patterson and Louise Grasmere. There will also be plenty of opportunities for you to join in and sing along with the Chorale. Introducing our guest artists Nick Page, Music Director Emeritus >From 1990-2022, Nick led the Mystic Chorale and guest conducted around the world including at three of the four Carnegie Halls (Pittsburgh, New York, and Scotland). A composer, conductor and author, he is best known for his song leading. In the 1980’s he was a conductor with the Emmy Award winning Chicago Children’s Choir. His choral works have premiered everywhere from Lincoln Center to schools. He is the author of four books and has close to one hundred published choral pieces. Jonathan Singleton Jonathan Singleton directs the Mystic Chorale Gospel concerts with grace and a deep appreciation of the history and meaning of the repertoire. He is currently an assistant professor at Berklee College of Music, teaching in the Ensemble and Piano departments and directing the Berklee Summer Gospel Week. In addition, Jonathan serves as musical director for saxophonist Andre Ward and is the minister of music at the historic Twelfth Baptist Church of Roxbury. Donnell Patterson Donnell Patterson, who has directed the Mystic Chorale in the past, is chair of the Gospel Music department in New England Conservatory’s (NEC) School of Preparatory and Continuing Education. He also directs the NEC Community Gospel Choir and the Boston community gospel choir, Joyful Voices of Inspiration. Since 2006, Donnell has served as the director of music for both the Upper and Lower Schools at Belmont Hill School in Belmont, Mass. In addition, for over 20 years, he has been Minister of Music at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cambridge. Louise Grasmere Louise Grasmere's sound is a unique fusion of jazz-influenced rhythm and blues seasoned with Motown, gospel and soul. As an original member of the Mystic Chorale, Louise sang with Nick Page from the days of his earliest "Power Sings" in the 1990's, and was a regular featured soloist with the Mystic for over thirty years. She is currently recording a new album of all-new original songs, due out later this year.
