Group, the Lincoln Land Conservation Trust, and Lincoln Conservation Department
for a presentation by Mathew Cahill, of the Massachusetts Department of
Conservation and Recreation (DCR), Urban and Community Forest Program.
Mathew will draw upon his career as an Urban Forestry expert to share ideas and
best practices for those interested in tree and forestry preservation. He will
provide an overview of the valuable tools and resources available on the DCR
website, discuss the characteristics of various tree preservation efforts in
Massachusetts towns, and outline the idea of a Legacy Tree program. With time
for insights and Q&A, this program is sure to inform our efforts to keep our
towns healthy, green, and thriving. Zoom: Please register at this link:

and make a link available post-session.)

  * June 12: Building Resilience in the Charles River Watershed (6:30 - 8:00
PM Zoom) - Adapting to the impacts of climate change is a daunting task, but
many local cities and towns are facing this challenge head-on! For the past
four years, about two dozen communities in the Charles River Climate Compact
(CRCC) (including Lincoln) have collaborated with Charles River Watershed
Association (CRWA) and Weston & Sampson to identify opportunities to reduce
flooding and build resilience to climate change. Join CRWA to learn about
innovative green and grey flood mitigation solutions, how we could use ponds
for added storage and their potential to reduce extreme flooding, and
actionable recommendations to safeguard our watershed’s future. Don’t miss this
opportunity to be part of the conversation! Register here:

Birding by Ear - When a bird is difficult to see, whether a small, quick-moving
Golden-crowned Kinglet or a well-camouflaged Great Horned Owl, knowing its
sounds makes the mystery a bit easier to solve. Known as “birding by ear,” this
technique also helps those with limited vision enjoy a birding adventure.
Visit: https://www.massaudubon.org/news/latest/calls-of-spring-birding-by-ear
to listen along, then hit the trails and hear the calls in action. Birder's
Tip: Download the Merlin app from Cornell Lab of Ornithology to record and
identify bird calls on the go.
