I recently had a good experience installing a replacement heat pump and
getting a MassSave heat loan for the project.

The heat pump contractor was Net Zero (netzerohvac.net). They assessed my
situation, gave me a lower estimate than my previous company, helped with
access to loans and rebates, arrived on schedule and did the work
professionally.

Applying for a MassSave heat loan had a few bureaucratic hoops to jump
through, and once approved you need to pick a bank to apply to for the
loan. I picked Worker's Credit Union almost at random, but they were
fantastic. I called them at 10am one morning, and after responding to their
request for documentation, the check was in the mail before the end of the
day. Thanks to MassSave, it was a 7-year loan at 0% interest.

The new heat pump technology is much better than the older heat pump I had
installed 14 years ago. Smaller, quieter, more efficient, and works to a
lower outdoor temperature. Since it was a replacement, I wasn't eligible
for the bigger rebates, but I believe someone switching to a heat pump from
another fuel would get something like a $3500 rebate.

Just wanted to share in case anyone finds this useful.
