Learn how to decorate a plant pot with the art of mosaic tiles! This quick and easy activity will transform an ordinary terracotta plant pot into a colorful, one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Beginners Watercolor Series |
Seven Wednesdays beginning Sep 3 1-3:30pm OR 6:30-9pm |
This class is geared for the complete beginner who has had little or no experience in watercolor. There will be multiple step-by-step demonstrations in every class and individual attention if needed. Images and line drawings are provided via email before class. Registration closes Aug 31.

Machine Sewing: Handled Lunch Bag |
Join us for this fun and informative intermediate machine sewing class and make a handled bag to keep or gift. This project is perfect for a lunch tote, carry-all, or handbag. A variety of materials will be available for selection. You will take home your finished bag and a packet of information for future reference. The ability to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin, is a prerequisite. Registration closes Sept 7.

Printmaking Off the Press: Porchoir Landscape Prints |
Thurs, Sep 11 & Sep 18 10am-1pm OR 6-9pm |
Join printmaking instructor Carol Ryan to learn how to make colorful landscape prints using pochoir, a stencil based art technique. Pochior is know for its bold shapes and vibrant colors, created by applying ink through hand-cut stencils. No printmaking experience required. Registration closes Sept 8.

Craft: Embroidered Bandana |
Learn basic embroidery stitches; running stitch, chain stitch, French knot, lazy daisy, and leaf stitch will be taught. An assortment of colored bandanas and embroidery threads will be available to choose from. Go home with a packet of information and written instructions for future use. Registration closes Sept 10.

Printmaking: Gelli Plates |
Interested in printmaking? Come explore monoprinting on a gelli or gelatin plate with instructor Kathy Aluia. Create unique and beautiful prints with acrylic paints and a wide variety of paper. Students will experiment with multiple techniques; resists, stencils, textures, inks, grease crayons and transfers. Frame your prints as is or use them for collage, unique cards or scrapbooking. Registration closes Sept 10.

Contemporary appliqué provides an opportunity to explore a meditative approach to fiber art. In this class, you will create a unique hand-sewn bird motif on a linen background. This appliqué project is intricate yet delicate, showcasing layers of hand-sewn fabrics. All tools and materials, including fabrics, will be supplied. Registration closes Sept 14.

Intro to 3D Printing: Kit Cards |
A kit card is a postcard-sized design that you can break apart and assemble into a 3D object. If you’re curious about 3D printing, this introductory course will give you a crash course. Upon completion of this class, students will be permitted to use the AIC Prusa printers during open maker hours.

Visible Mending: Sashiko Workshop |

Join visible mender, Mariko Sugimori to learn about the history of Sashiko, a technique to reinforce worn fabric and/or repair textiles, and work on some Sashiko samplers. All the materials will be provided, but attendees can also bring in woven (not stretchy) clothing they would like to practice this technique on. This class is recommended for individuals with some hand-sewing experience. Registration closes Sept 15.

Join us in this easy and relaxing adventure into the world of freedom and creativity. We'll paint the pomegranate- a symbol of sun, life, abundance, rebirth and immortality. All materials provided. Jewelry: Wire Wrapped Earrings |

In this class students will receive step by step instructions to make a simple pair of drop earrings using wire wrapping techniques. Students will start by making a basic design using headpins and beads. Students will have a variety of colors beads, and silver or gold findings to choose from. Students will take home their earrings as a lovely gift for themselves or someone else! Registration closes Sept 22.

Join us at the AIC for some family-friendly crafting. For this drop-in, we will have stations set up with a variety of nature-themed crafts. We’ll use creative ways to incorporate leaves, sticks, and more into different art projects. Bring in some foraged leaves, sticks, or pressed flowers to incorporate into your works! All ages are welcome. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

What would it be like to be a honeybee? How do bees communicate? What does a beehive look like? Learn the answer to these questions at the honeybee hives at the Garden at Tower Hill. Learn to identify the parts of a bee, explore a beekeeper’s tools, and investigate the process of pollination. Explore some of the things that bees can make and build and then craft your own beeswax candles using a simple rolling technique. Take these candles home and light them in celebration of the bees!
