Dear Lincoln Talk:

Just a reminder that members of Lincoln Witness are holding a candlelight
vigil at the Burlington ICE Field Office (1000 District Ave., Burlington)
from 4:30 – 6pm TOMORROW, Nov. 30th. Please bring a flashlight or
battery-powered candle. We will have Lady Liberty crowns, torches, and
sheets for those who want to don full garb (first come first served). This
vigil will be particularly important in light of Congressman Seth Moulton's
oversight visit planned for Monday. Who knows who ICE will be moving out
in an effort to make everything look good for the Representative.

Democracy dies in darkness, so we plan to shine a light on the injustices
being done at this facility (see:
https://www.wbur.org/news/2025/06/05/ice-burlington-immigration-detention-conditions).
The building was not designed to hold people for more than a few hours, and
there are no beds, but ICE has held people for over 20 days there. The
town of Burlington recently voted to condemn the “inhumane” conditions at
the facility (see:
https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2025/10/08/town-of-burlington-overwhelmingly-condemns-inhumane-conditions-at-ice-facility/),
and a recent worker taken into custody in the Allston carwash raid, and
since released, told Boston 25 News that she spent 8 days in Burlington
without adequate food before she was transferred (see:
https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/american-dream-is-over-allston-workers-detained-ice-raid-speak-out/PQ3GFXA7TBFFFCUPSERMS7UWBA/).

We hope you will join us.

Sincerely, Kim Jalet (Brooks Road) & Kathy Madison (Concord Road)
