This is the final week of the Heading Home for the Holidays Drive <https://www.justgiving.com/page/kim-jalet-4?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL>, and I am so close to meeting the goal of raising $25,000 to help area families experiencing homelessness! If you’ve already given, thank you so much! If you haven’t yet had a chance to give, it’s not too late! Your gift might fund a special toy that might otherwise be out-of-reach for a family, winter clothing for a family who has relocated recently from a warmer climate, food for a special holiday meal, and so much more. I know there is no shortage of worthy causes, but Heading Home rises to the top of my list because of their housing-plus services approach that helps families get into permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency. Heading Home shared this video <https://youtu.be/p3OVuCHrwIE?si=qOGfVJ8L2WMz_ESi> highlighting one of their clients, Shamia, a mother of three, who became homeless in 2017 despite working full time. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to ensuring that Heading Home will be able to make the holidays brighter for families like hers and respond more effectively to the growing number of emergency requests. Your generosity can change lives. On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of delivering 396 books donated by kind people for Heading Home to distribute to families in their shelter system.
