Hey All,

Thanks to James N. for solving my ASCII file import problem and helping me
to eliminate the boxes that appear for carriage returns and tabs. Worked
great!

Now I have a new problem along the same lines. Please help!

Working on Windows, Using Director 8.5, cross-platforming.

I am importing product information from simple ASCII text files that I am
then displaying in text fields (I pull out the first line and format for a
title, then place the body in another field, etc.). I'm using the FileI/O
Xtra to read in the text then using the sequence James gave me to eliminate
the Tab characters and carriage return characters that show up as boxes in
the text fields (that handler was in the Lingo Digest from 5/6/05).

But...the client wants to put some simple product information (Product #;
Product Name; Size; etc.) in tabbed columns in the ASCII text. Is there any
way to get rid of the visible tab box but retain the function of the tab
between words? Or should I format the text in some other way to create the
columns? Nothing is really consistent from one product to another so
whatever I do has to be flexible enough to accommodate various numbers of
columns and lengths of item strings.

Any ideas? Thanks again to everyone for keeping the list going and for all
of the great help.
