Make the image in Photoshop.
All transparency information has to be on a single Alpha channel.
The trick is that in the RGB 'channel' the colors must be full opacity
and not fade at all toward the edges. In fact, paint past the edges by a
little to be sure. Store it as a TIF with alpha and import that into
Director. With Alpha.
I used to have a photoshop Action that did a fine job of this.
