Yes indeed. On page 10 of the Lingo manual (dir85) there is a list of
some 50 or more commands which can be sent to Flash sprites from
Director.
The ones which seem the most promising include those which set
variables, tell the Flash file to go to some other frame, and so on
-- though as I am not at all a Flash guru I'm unable to advise you in
the best way to develop the Flash file such that it pauses sound
playback on command.
Of course you could simply build that functionality into the Flash
file too, using a button in the Flash movie to stop or start the
sound playback, and import the Flash movie with all its functionality
intact into your Director movie. That gets past the entire messy
issue of producing a Director movie which interacts with the Flash
file...
