Hi all-- This is a fix--or maybe a bug report--not a question ^_^
For months I've had seemingly random corruption of italicized text on Windows. I'd fix it, and a couple weeks later it would pop up somewhere else. Most of our text uses an embedded Comic Sans MS font, and we change the text on the fly (including formatting) from a database. The temporary fix was pretty simple--first, never empty the text cast member. That seems to sometimes cause it to lose its formatting. When I clear it, I clear it to a single space. The other half of the fix was to open the text member, select all the text, replace it with a space, compact and save. I always did this on Windows because that's the only place the corruption showed up. Then bam! A couple days/weeks later, the same thing would happen in another place. The italicized text was screwed up--actually, it was italic, but it had switched to some other font. The rest of the text (non-italics) was fine. Finally, today, the aha! moment, and the permanent fix. Don't save and compact on the Mac. That makes the text member lose its ability to italicize text on Windows. I do most of my work on the Mac, so it's a pain, but I guess I'm stuck with saving to the Lan, then save & compact on Windows. I don't know if this is specific to this font--it's the only one we use in this product. Has anybody run into anything similar with other fonts?
