Nothing much in Bruce's books is really out of date. There will be the odd deprecated keyword (e.g., "the machine" was replaced by "the environment" around then). The line continuation character has changed, but nothing in the basic structure of Director has changed. There have been some really major additions that won't be covered--imaging Lingo, Timeout objects, 3-D, improved sound handling, maybe some dot syntax stuff.
