The leak is probably coming from the QT instances. I haven't had 
*major* troubles with QT5 on WIn2K, which suggests the issue has been 
resolved, but that's as may be. Since the problem is almost certainly 
on the QT side of the fence there is nothing you can do about it.

That means, depending on your temperament, that you'll either get 
unbearably frustrated and decide to go with some partial Windows 
solution; or you'll shrug and say "to hell with it, QT6 is just 
around the corner anyway".

That is not a good idea at all. With large projects it makes more 
sense to keep things broken into logical pieces. That way you're only 
pulling into memory stuff you are likely to need in the forseeable 
future.
