The plus key has a particular function in authoring, and it isn't to do with moving the stage. Couldn't you do what you want by hiding the stage instead of moving it? Can you trap command or control keys? If you can, you could use command-1, or control-1 on a PC, to hide and show the stage, like it's done in authoring.
