       Developing for Shockwave 3D

Who: Paul Catanese
Author of the excellent book on Shockwave 3D: "Director's Third
Dimension:
Fundamentals of 3D Programming in Director 8.5"
Artist and instructor at the School of the Art Institute of
Chicago

When: Thursday, March 14th

Paul Catanese will be addressing the differences between using
pre-rendered
3D and real-time 3D environments, as well laying out a road map for
determining which one is right for a given project. In addition, Paul
will
be addressing the general anxiety surrounding real-time 3D development
in
Director 8.5 such as a) what types of applications can you reasonably
expect
to be able to create with Director 8.5, b) How does real-time 3D
development
affect project timelines and budget requirements and c) Vocabulary and
concepts that will facilitate answering client's questions about the
feasibility of utilizing real-time 3D in a given project.

This MMBUG meeting is being organized by Roy Pardi, instructor of the
Advanced Multimedia Development with Lingo course at Harvard University
Extension School (http://lab.dce.harvard.edu/extension/cscie17/) .

--Biography
Paul Catanese is a Chicago-based educator, consultant and developer as
well
as the author of Director's Third Dimension: Fundamentals of 3D
Programming
in Director 8.5. When Paul is not teaching at the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago, he provides consulting and development services
for
Director based projects through his company, skeletonmoon. In his free
time, Paul manages to keep three cats, a school of fish and a veritable
jungle of plant life alive and happy while they engage in an endless
game of
"rock paper scissors".
