Hi Kerry, I posted my answer before I saw yours. I didn't post to contradict your posting and if I had seen your posting I wouldn't have posted.
I actually looked up the (german) online help BEFORE posting and it says: "Mit der Funktion keyCode knnen Sie feststellen, wann der Benutzer eine Pfeil- oder Funktionstaste gedrckt hat, was von der Funktion key nicht erkannt werden kann." Which means that the function keyCode is to see if the user has pressed an arrow or function key, WHICH ARE NOT RECOGNISED BY THE FUNCTION "KEY". So the (german) online help seems to contradict your posting --- and evidence. Maybe a bug in the translation of the help texts? Sorry that I didn't test it and sorry to anyone who got confused by me ... "The key" does work if you set the exitLock to TRUE. Either that, or the code I've been using as a key handler is going to suddenly start failing after all these years. "the key" returns 28, 29, 30, and 31 for the left, right, up, and down arrows. Look up the online help for more details. Or test before you post.
