But what if I'm not? And some of these cast members are being referenced by 
Lingo.  This is an inherited .dir file from another colleague who has left. 
And she has left an extremely large messy file with many duplicate cast 
members. I tried removing one and discovered that the sprite had  also 
disappeared from the stage. And there appears to be many of these so called 
'duplicates' or 'near' duplicates.

Has anyone encountered this type of problem and is there a solution to this?
