Howdy, I have no idea if this'll help but it might be worth a shot, check out this article:

To quote the article: "The final, successfully sequence was: OS 9, OS 9.1, OS X, OS X 10.1, OS 9.2.1. And, to [expletive deleted] with OS 9.2.2." I'd be interested to learn if de-grading to 9.2.1 solves any of your probs.
