Oh ouch... I can see a user pointing Director to a folder containing 
several hundred Mb of images, then whining over (1) how long it 
takes, and (2) the fact the system hangs up and finally dies.

There are levels of perfectionism into which you can descend when 
doing batch importing; for instance you can check for types, free 
memory etc. -- actually I've got some code that handles this sort of 
thing in Part 4 of my book -- but simply assuming the end user knows 
enough to point your program to a folder full of legitimate pictures, 
and has the storage necessary to suck 'em all in the Cast, is 
probably not a safe assumption to make.

Though I like the idea of linking to a dummy member and getting 
member.image instead.
