Thank you James and Dale. You both came up with using the "forecolor" 
and an integer as in index into the current palette.  But I just 
don't understand what palette I would referring to if I'm running in 
16 bit or 32 bit mode.   I'm afraid that I will never understand 
color.  I still don't get the red plus green = yellow or is it purple 
or is it ... (I honestly don't know)?

But James, where did "paletteIndex" come from?  I just tried it and 
it works perfectly well - that's what I'll use because it allows me 
to use the rgb numbers.  But I don't see it documented in any 
official Macromedia Lingo manual.  The only place I see it is on page 
30 of your book!
