When you say you can't have a data rate less than 2.5M, do you mean 2.5 megabit/sec, and if so why can't you have less than that? By DVD, do you mean that it's just a DVD-ROM, or do you mean that you want it to play as a DVD-Video in an ordinary player as well? I think you're talking about just a DVD-ROM, in which case there's no need to use MPEG2. you should be able to get good enough results using Sorenson.
