yea I got the black flash too but I like your spiders though.  I've
figured out a method that works for me and doesn't create a black flash.

I'm using a MIAW and using the window type to specify a 1x1 pixel mask
while I grab the desktop.  when the MIAW has grabbed the desktop it
notifies the launcher movie which sets the window type of the MIAW to a
1-bit cast member which is the same size of the screen.  The only
noticeable difference is that I loose the menu names on the desktop menu
bar but I can live with that.
