Yeh, a clear distinction here needs to be made between "unsupported"
and "can't work". Classic authoring for 8.5 is UNSUPPORTED. That does
not mean it won't work; it means if it doesn't work, too bad.
In fact it does work, and nicely, and even the crashing can be
substantially reduced when you romove all the MS OLE stuff from your
Mac9 extensions.
