importFileInto destroys the existing cast member & then Import 
happens at the screen depth

as suggested, one workaround is to keep a 32 bit placeholder & set 
the .filename property (which doesn't destroy the member first)

unfortunately setting the filename automatically calls 'contract 
white space' so this may introduce yet another problem (the rects can 
change)
