Yes you can:
(the stage).rect = the deskTopRectList[1]
There are often lots of ways to get things done in Director that you
might not expect to be able to do. A rule of thumb is that if it seems
like you have to go through too many hoops to get something
accomplished, you may be right and there may be a simpler method.
