For those who want to know, this is known as the West African 419 fraud. Quite a serious one, if anyone is stupid enough to fall for it. The Scotland Yard fraud squad even has an information page about it, and are soliciting information from people that are targetted (which would presumably include anyone on this list who lives in the UK): http://www.met.police.uk/fraudalert/419.htm I actually reported the first one I got (several months ago) to the met, but never heard anything back from them. I've since had dozens more of the same type, so they're obviously getting so common that no-one is bothering to follow them up anymore.
