Hello, everyone. Long-time lurker, first-time caller, semi-newbie level user.

I am creating a shockwave "radio" that has 30 different songs in 64kbps MP3 format. In order to reduce the file size, I made these cast members link to external files.
The basic methodology for the "radio" is to randomly pick a cast member, preload it, start playing it, and to determine its length. When the song is about 20 seconds from finishing, it preloads the next song. When the song is 5 seconds from ending, it cross-fades to the next song. All of this is working just fine when I play it in Director and even if I create a projector. However, when I save the .dir as a .dcr (Shockwave), it doesn't play any sound at all.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen?
Are you using preLoad, or preLoadNetThing?

Is the relative path when posted (between the .DCR & the sound files) the same as when you are playing in Authoring?

Or, even if I am approaching this in an appropriate way? I am using Dir 8 on a Win XP box.

Thanks to any and all help you can offer. BTW - I love this list. Although I am nowhere near the Lingo God status that so many of you seem to be, it is nice for this amateur to see how the pros do it.
