Colin Moock's "ActionScript for Flash MX: The Definitive Guide", popularly known as
ASDG2, is now available online via O'Reilly's "Safari" service (no relation to the
Apple browser of the same name):

http://safari.oreilly.com/?XmlId=0-596-00396-X

Safari (http://safari.oreilly.com/?mode=HowItWorks) is a subscription service (sort of
like an online bookshelf).

Free 14-day trial subscriptions are available
(https://secure.safaribooksonline.com/promo.asp?code=ORA14&portal=oreilly), and you
can search the entire text of the book without a subscription. Safari is a great way
to have access to your bookshelf whenever you travel, or if you don't want to buy dual
copies for home and office. Safari also gives you the ability to bookmark and annotate
pages, save them or print them out for offline reading, and more.

If you prefer the hard-copy version, see my signature block.

The book is top-notch and answers many questions about ActionScript development. It
includes a complete ActionScript language reference. If you already know Lingo or
JavaScript, you'll feel right at home. People with no scripting experience might gain
a lot from it but probably should start with a more basic book. The book covers some
very advanced topics, so even experienced programmers will learn a lot about how to
best program in Flash MX.

You can access most of the Flash MX functions through a Flash object in Director MX
too, so this book is useful for anyone using Flash MX assets in Director MX.

Bruce (Colin's Editor, among other things)
