You sure there's not something strange with the images or other imported/ linked media? I have a feeling I've been through similar difficulties with Dir 7 and images I got from a photographer. I opened all of them and "saved as" in Photoshop and then it worked. Wow I had really forgotten about this but it came back to me now!

Thanks, Colin.

I found HexEdit and found the code. So I'm mostly happy, now.

The movie is still giving me weird errors. I have lots of linked images,
(200) but that doesn't seem that extream... not sure what's going on. It
is a very simple dir, I'm thinking. But director disagrees.

Is there a hex editor, or some other way I can try to salvage some of my
lingo? In particular there are 2 very nasty data tables I had to hand slam
& I'd hate to do those 2 hours again.

Try opening it in Word, using Recover Text From Any File.
