My guess is that these machines either do not have an internal speaker, or Windows is 
not recognizing it. That would jive with why we do not have the "default beep" nor 
"default sound" nor any "default" sound selection in the Window's Sound Control Panel. 
Since D7.02, beep uses the
default sound, prior to that it was the Asterisk sound. I think the default sound only 
uses the internal speaker, but I'm maybe making that up.

But to answer your question, I don't think it is a theme. Tried different built-in 
themes. Also tried setting EVERY selection in the sound tab of the control panel. <Did 
you realize that you can have a sound time you click the mouse? Just the thought of 
that gives me the willies.>
Anyway, no beep.
