In it Adessa Tetrostsionu, a cultural anthropologist from the semi-pariah world of Delphos, braves the censure of Allahu'akhbar to study that world's ways and learn how they are different from his own.
In this companion volume to _The Beasts of Delphos_, we learn what has happened to that world and its freed slaves after the Uprising, share with them their joy of cultural discovery, and see how a godless planet can be unlike one governed strictly by religious rule -- and how they can be similar as well.
