A good virus protection program like MacAfee or Norton will do the job. You'll spend a few dollars (~$30?), but it's a lot cheaper than reformatting the drive. On a related note, after I posted the warning, I got an e-mail from James. He confirms that he did not send the email, and neither of the addresses used were his. In fact, while he is on holiday, he is not even subscribed to Lingo-L. I'm inclined to believe that the use of his name wasn't random. If I were to choose a "most trusted" name for the list, his would be among the top. That's what makes it particularly odious--an attempt to discredit James while undermining the perceived security of the list. Like Tab pointed out, you will never receive an email through the list with an attachment. It's easy enough to make a direct e-mail look like it came from the list, at least on first glance, but if it has an attachment, it didn't. And don't open it. In fact, I never open an attachment unless I'm sure of the source and the validity. And yes, I'm protected against LoveSAN ^_^ Cordially, Kerry Thompson [To remove yourself from this list, or to change to digest mode, go to http://www.penworks.com/lingo-l.cgi To post messages to the list, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Problems, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]).
