I just got an e-mail, supposedly from James Newton, and supposedly sent
through Lingo-L. I suspect it is a fraud, and I would strongly advise
that you not open the attachment until it has been validated.

I don't know if this is a fake or not, but (1) it was sent to an old
e-mail address, different from the one I use for Lingo-L, (2) the return
address was not, to my knowledge, an address that James uses, and (3) it
had an attachment, and I doubt that James would send an attachment.

I would advise any of you who receive this email titled "Re: <lingo-l>
bouncingsprite" to _not_ open the attachment until we have determined if
it actually came from James. I'm copying him, and Tab, so they can
investigate and/or follow up.

If this is a fraud, it's a crying shame, because James has been, for
years, one of the most helpful members of the list, and he is one of the
top developers out there, anywhere. Shame on anybody who is trying to
use his reputation to spread a virus.

And my apologies, of course, if it is really from James.

Cordially,

Kerry Thompson
