Kristian,

First off, I have to say that I think bundles are about the coolest thing since sliced bread. But I had issues when I first looked into this, too. If you haven't seen the documentation at Macromedia's site (http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/ bundle_proj.htm), take a look there first. That's the one I used, and after a little tweaking, got it to work great.

what's the deal with these bundles? They seem like quite a good thing but
they don't seem to be that well thought out. We are making an installer that
should work cross-platform (supporting osx, os9.x and some win platforms)
and figured that a bundle was the way to go on mac - first of all seems like
a hassle to make them and the documentation aren't that good. Does anyone
know about any good docs/resources on this?? Well it's all together but i
seems like on os9.x it doesn't work just klicking the "xname.app" - which I
supposed it would. It works fine placing an alias besides it but that
doesn't count.

The biggest hang-up I had (if I remember correctly) was in creating the alias for the app, it has to be done before you add the .app on the folder to make it a bundle. Otherwise the alias is looking for appname.app, but only finds appname. Something like that. Follow the tutorial and email me if you have issues. It'll come back to me. I've got a project I saved somewhere, just for this purpose.

We need for the user to put in the cd open it and then clikc "setup" and the
appropriate setup program will start - well the ultimate would be for the
user to put in the cd and there is an auto start (I'm usually in win but
heard that osx doesn't support this, true?)

That is correct, OS X does not provide a way for autostart, and sadly, this affects OS 9 as well, since when you burn the disc (assuming you're using Toast), it doesn't allow you to select the bundle.app or anything inside it for autostart. So if you want autostart on any platform, you'll have to develop to 9 standards and put a folder at the root for X, or something like that.

Any tips on bundles?? Got a tip and some docs regarding the use of
applescript and we are looking in to that, but it will onlys solve parts of
the problem.

Just go through the example from Macromedia's page above, and you should arrive there. Email me off-list if you get into it and can't figure it out. I can try to recreate, or remember what tripped me up when I first played with it.

Any comments and tips on bundles appreciated.
