Yes and no - even with telltargetting you don't have any real function to tint, and there's no property for _color like _alpha.
However there's an 'easier' way than telltargetting by setting _global within the flash clip and using director's new referencing of said objects. Now that I've gotten my head around it it's pretty cool.
